Preparing the dump tape

You need to rewind the tape, and find the correct position on the tape to start copying from.

1. Rewind the tape.
   For example:

   # mt -f /dev/ntibm0 rewind

2. Skip the first file on the tape (this file is the dump tool itself).

   For example:

   # mt -f /dev/ntibm0 fsf
