Preparing for dump-on-panic
You might want to consider setting up your system to automatically create a memory dump after a kernel panic.
Before you begin: If you set up kdump, a kernel panic or
PSW restart automatically triggers a dump. For a KVM guest,
kdump is the only option for an automatic dump-on-panic.
Configuring and using dump-on-panic has the following
advantages:
- You have a dump setup that is prepared ahead of time.
- You do not have to reproduce the problem since a memory dump will be triggered automatically immediately after the failure.
