Dynamic Resource Manager (DynamicRM) is a Reliable, Scalable, Cluster Technology (RSCT) resource manager.

DynamicRM allows a Hardware Management Console (HMC) to do the following tasks:

  • Dynamically add or remove processors, memory, or I/O slots from a running partition.
  • Concurrently update system firmware.
  • Perform certain shutdown operations on a partition.
  • Migrate a partition from POWER6® to POWER7® processor-based servers.
  • Enable end-to-end virtual device view. The end-to-end virtual device view shows how virtual disks map to disk names in Linux™, and how virtual Ethernet devices map to Linux Ethernet interfaces.

The DynamicRM package does not ship any user commands. The package depends upon RSCT.
