Migrating from License Metric Tool Lite to License Metric Tool with BigFix

To migrate from License Metric Tool Lite to License Metric Tool with BigFix®, install the BigFix server. Then, stop transferring scan results from disconnected computers to the disconnected data source. Next, migrate computers between data sources and set up software and capacity scans and uploads of their results in BigFix. Finally, remove the disconnected data source.

Before you begin

If your environment did not increase significantly and you want to continue using License Metric Tool Lite, write an email to talk2sam@us.ibm.com and request for an approval. If you do not obtain the approval, switch to using License Metric Tool with BigFix.

1. Install the BigFix platform. For more information, see the following links:
   • Installing the BigFix platform on Linux (BigFix scenario)
   • Installing the BigFix platform on Windows (BigFix scenario)
2. Stop transferring scan results from disconnected scanners to the disconnected data source. The exact steps depend on the solution that you are using for this purpose.
3. Add BigFix as a data source in License Metric Tool. For more information, see: Adding a data source.
4. Migrate computers from the disconnected data source to the BigFix data source. For more information, see: Migrating computers between data sources.
5. If all computers report under the BigFix data source, remove the disconnected data source from License Metric Tool.
   1. In License Metric Tool, go to Management > Data Sources.
   2. Select the disconnected data source, and click Delete. Then, click Delete to confirm.
