Advanced VM management (distributed and disconnected)
Use advanced VM management if the main instance of the VM Manager Tool cannot connect to some of the VM managers because they are in separated networks. This approach requires that you install an additional VM Manager Tool, and configure VM manager connections through configuration files.
Advanced VM management refers to using distributed or disconnected VM Manager Tool. For more information, see: Flow of capacity data - distributed VM Manager Tool or Flow of capacity data - disconnected VM Manager Tool.
VM managers from which data is collected by distributed or disconnected VM Manager Tool are visible on the VM Managers panel in the License Metric Tool user interface. However, their configuration cannot be changed through that panel. It can be change only through VM manager configuration files.
You can use advanced VM management as an extension of the basic configuration. VM managers to which the main instance of the VM Manager Tool can connect can still be managed in the License Metric Tool user interface. The additional VM Manager Tool can manage only VM managers for which such a connection cannot be established.
Advanced VM management can also be used for balancing network traffic by distributing it between multiple instances of the VM Manager Tool.
