Downloading the disconnected scanner package (disconnected scenario)

Download the disconnected scanner package
and distribute it to the computers on which you want to install the disconnected
scanner.
Procedure

Download the disconnected scanner package in one of the following ways.
- Download the
disconnected scanner package from the Scanning Tools panel.
- Log in to License Metric Tool and go to Management > Scanning Tools.
- In the Disconnected Scanners section, click the link that is specific for the operating system on which you want to install the disconnected scanner.
- Download the disconnected
scanner package from the Data Sources panel.
- Log in to License Metric Tool and go to Management > Data Sources.
- Select the disconnected data source.
- In the Disconnected scanner installation packages section, click the link that is specific for the operating system on which you want to install the disconnected scanner.
- Download the disconnected scanner package by using REST API. For more information, see: REST API for downloading disconnected scanner packages.
- Download the disconnected scanner package from the License Metric Tool server.
- Log in to the computer where the License Metric Tool server is installed.
- Go to the <LMT_installation_directory>/disconnected-scanners/ directory.
Names of disconnected scanner packages use the following naming convention.- LMT-DisconnectedScanner-<operating_system>-<version>-<timestamp>.zip
- LMT-DisconnectedScanner-<operating_system>-<version>-<timestamp>.tar.gz
- Download the
disconnected scanner package from the Scanning Tools panel.
- Optional: To customize the disconnected scanner before you deploy it, edit
the configuration files. You can do this after you distribute and unpack the installation package on
each computer or upfront by repackaging the installation package with updated configuration files.
The latter option is more convenient if you want to apply configuration changes on a larger number
of computers. For a list of configurable parameters, see: Configuration parameters of the disconnected scanner (disconnected scenario). Note: Ensure that you do not modify file permissions during repackaging the disconnected scanner package. In particular, when you repackage the package on a Windows computer and then distribute it to other operating systems. In such case, file permissions are most likely modified.

Upload the disconnected scanner package to an installation directory of your choice on the
computers in your infrastructure. Do not change file names.
Restriction: Ensure that the scanner installation path meets the following requirements.
- The scanner cannot be installed in a directory that is excluded from software scans. To view the list of directories that are excluded by default, see: List of excluded directories.
- The file system where the directory in which you want to install the disconnected scanner resides is not mounted as NOEXEC.
- The scanner must be installed in the /cit directory.
- The installation path cannot contain white space characters.
- The installation path cannot contain any special characters or spaces.
- The installation path cannot contain any special or national characters. Spaces are allowed. The entire path cannot exceed 99 characters.
- Unpack the disconnected scanner package.

- Right-click the disconnected scanner package, and click Extract All.
