Setting up daily transfer of scan results to the License Metric Tool server (disconnected scenario)

Results of the disconnected scans should be imported to the License Metric Tool server daily. To import scan results, copy results packages from the disconnected computers in your infrastructure to the disconnected data source. You can automate the process of copying the results packages by using an automation technology of your choice.

1. Go to the directory where you uploaded the disconnected scanner package. Verify whether the package with scan results was generated in the following subdirectory after the software scan.
   • output
   • cit
   Names of results packages use the following naming convention.

   • <YYYYMMDDHHMM>-<endpoint_ID>.zip
   • <YYYYMMDDHHMM>-<endpoint_ID>.tar.gz

   Important: Do not change names of results packages. Otherwise, they will not be imported to License Metric Tool.
2. Copy the results package to the disconnected data source. You can do this in one of the following ways.
   • If computers with disconnected scanners have connectivity to the License Metric Tool server (direct or through a proxy), see: Uploading disconnected scan results (disconnected scenario).
   • You can use REST API and create an automation script of your own. For more information, see: REST API for uploading disconnected scan results.
   • You can mount a shared folder on every computer on which the disconnected scanner is installed and specify this folder as a disconnected data source. For more information, see the following links:

   • Use a task automation software of your choice, for example Red Hat Ansible.
   • If you want to quickly verify results in License Metric Tool, you can use on the following methods:
     Important: These methods are not recommended as they are cumbersome and difficult to maintain in long term. Use them only as a temporary solution before you set up an automatic solution.
     • Manually transfer packages from the computer to the disconnected data source.
     • Upload results through the Scan Results Upload panel. For more information, see: Manually transferring disconnected scan results (disconnected scenario).
       Note: You can upload scan results that were generated by a specific version of the disconnected scanner depending on the version of the License Metric Tool server that you are using.

       • For the server in version 9.2.31 and later, you can upload scan results that were generated by disconnected scanner in version 9.2.21 or later.
       • For the server in version between 9.2.25 and 9.2.30, you can upload scan results that were generated by disconnected scanner in version 9.2.25 or later.
3. To save disk space on the disconnected computer, remove the results package after you upload it to the disconnected data source.
4. Wait for the scheduled import or run it manually.
