Installing an additional VM Manager Tool from the BigFix console

To connect to VM managers that are in a separated network, install an additional VM Manager Tool on a computer that can connect to that network.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that the computer on which you want to install the VM Manager Tool, meets the software requirements. For more information, see: VM Manager Tool installation requirements.
  • Ensure that the BigFix® client is installed on the computer on which you want to install the VM Manager Tool.

About this task

This procedure describes how to install the VM Manager Tool on a computer on which you can install the BigFix client. If you cannot install the client on the target computer, install the disconnected VM Manager Tool. For more information, see: Installing the disconnected VM Manager Tool.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the BigFix console.
  2. In the navigation tree, click Sites > External Sites > IBM License Reporting (ILMT) > Fixlets and Tasks.
  3. Select Install Additional VM Manager Tool (OPTIONAL) version number, and click Take Action.
  4. Select a computer that can connect to the VM managers in the separated network, and click OK.

Results

You installed an additional instance of the VM Manager Tool. Use its command-line interface to manage VM managers that are in separated networks.
