Using VM Manager Tool by unprivileged users

To use the VM Manager Tool by an unprivileged user, you need to deploy the tool in disconnected mode.

Using privileged user only during installation and upgrade

In this scenario, you install the distributed VM Manager Tool. Capacity scans are automatically scheduled to run every 30 minutes to fulfill requirements of subcapacity licensing.

Windows icon Administrative privileges are required to run only the following commands.
  • -install
  • -remove
  • -run
Other commands can be run by an unprivileged user with execute permission to the directory where the VM Manager Tool is installed. For a complete list of commands, see: VM Manager Tool command-line options. For more information about using the disconnected VM Manager Tool, see: Deploying the disconnected VM Manager Tool.
