Upgrading the central or distributed VM Manager Tool

To upgrade the central or distributed VM Manager Tool to a newer version, run the Update VM Manager Tool to version version number fixlet from the BigFix® console.

Before you begin

To upgrade the central VM Manager Tool to version 9.2.43 or higher, you must first upgrade the License Metric Tool server to version 9.2.43 or higher.

If a central VM Manager Tool in version 9.2.43 or higher is used with the License Metric Tool server in version lower than 9.2.43, you will experience problems with configuring the central VM Manager Tool from the License Metric Tool user interface. To avoid these issues, upgrade the server first, and the VM Manager Tool later.

About this task

The following procedure applies to the central and distributed VM Manager Tool. If you use the disconnected VM Manager Tool, see: Upgrading the disconnected VM Manager Tool.

Procedure

  1. Log in to BigFix console.
  2. In the navigation tree, click Sites > External Sites > IBM License Reporting (ILMT) > Fixlets and Tasks.
  3. Select Update VM Manager Tool to version version number, and click Take Action.
  4. Select the computer on which the VM Manager Tool is installed, and click OK.

Results

You upgraded the VM Manager Tool to a newer version.
