Enabling computer reconciliation mode

To avoid duplicating computers in License Metric Tool, enable the computer reconciliation mode.

About this task

Enabling computer reconciliation mode does not resolve existing duplicates, rather prevents from creating new ones. Manually identify and remove the already existing duplicates as described in this procedure.
Important:
  • 9.2.33 Starting from application update 9.2.33, computer reconciliation mode is enabled by default for all new installations of the License Metric Tool server.
  • For application updates 9.2.23 and 9.2.24, computer reconciliation applies only to computers that are managed by BigFix. Starting from application update 9.2.25, it applies also to computers from disconnected data sources.

Procedure

  1. To identify already existing duplicates, go to Reports > Computers, sort the report by Computer Name column and export the report as CSV. Open an exported CSV report in spreadsheet editor and identify rows with duplicated Computer Name and IP Address columns.
  2. If duplicated computers exist in License Metric Tool, remove the duplicates.
    • If the duplicated computers are from a BigFix data source, perform the following steps.
      1. Log in to the BigFix console.
      2. In the navigation tree, click Computers.
      3. Select computers that are duplicated in License Metric Tool, right-click the selected computers, and click Remove From Database.
      4. Log in to License Metric Tool and go to Management > Data Imports. Then, click Import Now.
    • If the duplicated computers are from a disconnected data source, decommission duplicated computers from the License Metric Tool user interface or by using REST API.
  3. Enable the computers reconciliation mode.
    1. In License Metric Tool, go to Management > Advanced Server Settings.
    2. Change the value of the Enable computers reconciliation parameter to true.
