Performing a Load Process

Use the Load Process to load data from an Extract or Archive File.

To perform a Load Process:

  1. From the main menu, select option 7 MIGRATION and press Enter. The Data Migration panel opens.
  2. Select option 3 LOAD and press Enter. The LOAD Process panel opens.
  3. In the Extract File DSN field, enter the Archive or Extract File name (enclosed in quotes) that contains the data to load.
  4. In the Control File DSN field, enter the name of the Control File (enclosed in quotes), which is a sequential data set to contain information and statistics about the Load Process. If the data set has not been allocated, the Allocate Dataset panel will open before the Load Process begins, allowing you to allocate the data set.
  5. Select option 1 Table Map and press Enter. The LOAD Process Table Map panel opens.
  6. Edit the Table Map and enter the destination creator ID in the Dest CID field.

Use the APPLY command to select a Table Map.

Include Column Maps to define the specifications for mapping columns of compatible data between source and destination tables.

  7. Press F3 to return to the LOAD Process panel.
  8. Select option 2 PERFORM and press Enter. Depending on the load utility in use, the Specify LOAD Parameters and Execute or Specify LOADPLUS Parameters and Execute panel opens.
  9. Specify options for the Load Process.

You can choose to delete all rows in the table space and create a full image copy. You can also choose to perform logging, enforce relational integrity constraints, ensure that the statistical data is updated, and assign template names to load files. Other options allow you to age date values, sort tables that use a cluster index, and limit the number of discarded rows.

  10. Press Enter. The Job Card and Print Options panel opens.
  11. Specify options to generate the JCL and utility control statements.
  12. Press Enter. Depending on the user options selected, the job may be submitted either automatically or manually.
