Test Data Management Solution
Use the IBM® InfoSphere® Optim™ Test Data Management Solution to extract, copy, privatize, and move sets of relationally intact data from source tables to corresponding destination tables. You can also use the test data management solution to browse and edit data and compare test results with the original data. Using the solution, you can work with complex data models of any number of tables and relationships heterogeneously and ensure a referentially intact set of data for use in application testing and data migration. In addition, using data privacy features, you can obfuscate or mask sensitive data while maintaining its validity for testing your applications. (For example, credit card numbers can be masked so that the resulting numbers have valid check digits and issuer identifiers.)

The test data management solution is indispensable for:
- Creating test databases that are relationally intact subsets of an existing production database.
- Migrating subsets of data that require data transformations as part of the migration. This feature is especially useful for masking data used in testing applications or to introduce altered data to the production database.
- Aging all types of date columns, regardless of initial format, and adjusting the resulting dates to suit site-specific business rules. An extensive set of sample definitions to handle these business rules is distributed with the test data management solution. Definitions can be customized to accommodate organization-specific business rules.
- Browsing and editing sets of relationally intact data in database tables, and browsing data in extract, archive, and compare files.
- Comparing data from one set of source tables with data from another
so that you can eliminate time-consuming efforts to manually assemble
data from different tables and database management systems. The compare
facility provides a comprehensive report and complete row-by-row results
to help you:
- Analyze data used to test an application by comparing the results before and after the application is executed.
- Compare archived data with current data.
- Identify similarities and differences in separate databases.
- Track database changes.
