HBO8013E THE SMF USER EXIT HBOSMFEX CANNOT ALLOCATE 2GB OF ABOVE-THE-BAR STORAGE

Explanation

The SMF user exit HBOSMFEX attempted to allocate storage in the virtual storage area HVCOMMON, but the allocation was unsuccessful. There might not be sufficient storage to satisfy the request.

The error prevents the SMF user exit from collecting any SMF data and moving it to the high virtual storage area. The System Data Engine will not process the SMF data. The SMF data will continue to be recorded in the SYS1.MANx data set or the log stream depending on the configuration.

Response

Allocation might be limited due to the setting of the HVCOMMON parameter in the IEASYSxx PARMLIB member. To review the current allocation, use the z/OS® operator command DISPLAY VIRTSTOR,HVCOMMON. See the MVS™ Initialization and Tuning Reference for more information about how to define an HVCOMMON value in PARMLIB member IEASYSxx.

Delete the exit using the SETPROG command and increase the amount of free HVCOMMON storage before trying to add the exit again.
