Installing and configuring Z APM Connect Base
Z APM Connect Base must be installed and configured to enable transaction tracking support for your z/OS® operating system.
Installing and configuring Z APM Connect CICS TS Data Producer
If you need to monitor your CICS subsystem, Z APM Connect CICS® TS Data Producer (CICS TS Data Producer) must be installed and configured into all CICS TS environments that require monitoring. The CICS TS Data Producer is a component of IBM Z® APM Connect that runs inside the CICS TS region and sends events to Z APM Connect Base address space, which forwards events to the Z APM Connect Distributed Gateway which aggregates all elements of the transaction flow and then send to Instana backend.
Installing and configuring Z APM Connect IMS Data Producer
If you need to monitor your IMS subsystem, Z APM Connect IMS Data Producer (IMS Data Producer) must be installed and configured into all IMS Connect and IMS regions that require monitoring. The IMS Data Producer is a component of IBM Z APM Connect that runs inside the IMS Connect and IMS region and sends events to Z APM Connect Base address space, which forwards events to Instana backend.
Setting up the IBM Z APM Connect IBM MQ monitoring agent subsystem
Beginning with IBM Z APM Connect V6.1 PTF UJ00791, an IBM® MQ monitoring agent subsystem is required for the collection of the application performance metrics for message flows through IBM MQ. To track message flows through IBM MQ, define a subsystem for the IBM Z APM Connect IBM MQ Monitoring agent.
Installing and configuring Z APM Connect Interceptor
If you need to monitor your z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition, Z APM Connect Interceptor must be installed and configured into a directory in Unix System Services on z/OS.
Enabling support for tracking CICS Transaction Gateway
If you use the Instana APM solution and want to track CICS Transaction Gateway (CICS TG), Z APM Connect request monitoring exits must be installed to provide your Instana backend with CICS Transaction Gateway workload data.
Tracking flows into Db2 for z/OS via JDBC
To enable tracking flows into Db2 for z/OS via JDBC, you need to configure the Db2 for z/OS and Z Common Data Provider.
