Data extraction overview

Most often, the data is extracted so that it can then be moved and loaded into a different Db2 instance on a different system. You can perform this process manually, you might need to automate the entire procedure if it must be run unattended, or if it must be run periodically by a scheduler. The techniques presented in this section can form the basis for a more sophisticated automated procedures for extracting data from one system and loading it into another. They can also be extended and used in automated procedures for periodically transferring and loading data into a remote Db2 system, possibly running on a different platform and at a different release or version level.
