Configuring a user interface entry data source

Create a user interface entry data source for quickly creating data items through only the maps, list, or REST API.

About this task

For user interface entry data sources, all the data source properties are preassigned.

Procedure

  1. Create a data source that has a data source definition type of Manual data item entry with predefined property mapping.
  2. For the acquisition method, select one of the following options:
    • To create data items on the geospatial map, select User interface entry for geospatial maps. The location for each data item is contained in a well-known text (WKT) format string.
    • To create data items on the location map, select User interface entry for location maps. An area property is assigned to the data source.
    • To create data items that do not require location information, select User interface entry with no location. Data items that have no location information are displayed only on the list in the Operations view.
  3. Optional: Configure the settings on the Security, Routing, and Appearance tabs according to your requirements.
  4. Use the filter configuration tool to add your data source to a pane in the filter so that you can create and view data items for the data source in the Operations view.
