Translating field text

Use the translation wizard to enter a translation for any field where you can enter text. Translated fields are displayed in the user interface according to the locale that is selected in either the user profile, or in the browser. Configure the I18nLocales system property to determine the locale values that are displayed by the translation wizard.

About this task

You can specify the translated versions of any field where you can enter text. For fields that have translated versions, the language that is displayed in the user interface depends on the locale that is set in the user profile. If a preferred language is not set in the user profile, the language that is displayed depends on the locale that is selected in the browser.

If the I18nLocales system property is configured with a default locale only, such as English, the translation wizard is not displayed.

Procedure

  1. Either click the translation wizard icon, or click within a field where you can enter text.
  2. Select the required language from the list of supported locales that is displayed.
  3. Enter the translated version of the field text in the appropriate supported locales fields. If you enter only a default value, then the default is always displayed. For example, if you are viewing the solution in Arabic and no Arabic translation is specified, then the default value is displayed.
  4. Click OK.
