Viewing data on the maps and list

In the Operations view, you can view data on a geospatial map, on a location map, or in a list. You can also view data on a calendar.

Customizing how data is displayed

Your administrator can configure which properties are displayed for data items in the user interface, for example, on the preview card and in the list. Your administrator can also configure the order that properties are displayed in. However, all properties are always displayed in the New Item window, and in the Update window.

For a particular data source, your administrator can configure customized preview cards and full properties windows to be displayed for associated data items. For example, your administrator can configure the data items' full properties windows to display tabs for either associations, comments or images.

Map
Use the geospatial map to see current information that is represented on a geospatial map. You can obtain information from data items marked on the map. Select your data sources in the filter and your base map from the list of available maps.
Location map
Use the location map to obtain current information about what is happening at a specific location. You can obtain information from data items that are marked on the location map. Select your data sources in the filter, and select your location map from the list of maps that are available. A location map in IBM Intelligent Operations Center is a map, diagram, or plan with predefined areas for interaction, for example, seating areas in a major sports stadium.
List
Use the list to view, monitor, and manage data items in IBM Intelligent Operations Center.
Calendar
The calendar lists data items that match the currently selected filter criteria in the filter. The calendar displays one table per month, where data items are listed in chronological order.
Viewing data in the legend
The legend displays an overview of the data that is selected in the filter. You can use the legend to quickly hide and redisplay the selected data in the maps, list, calendar, and timeline.
Viewing data through the timeline
Use the Timeline window to play through data items in sequence, on the map, in the list or on the calendar, for data sources that are selected in the filter.
Adding comments to a data item
You can add either public or private comments to a data item on the map or in the list. A public comment is visible to all users, and a private comment is visible only to the user that created the comment. Only you can edit any comments that you create.
Associating images with a data item
You can upload images to associate with a data item, and you can view the images that are associated with a data item.
Associating data items
You can associate data items that are from associated data sources, if manual association is configured for the data sources. For example, you might want to associate a data item from a traffic observation data source with a data item from a data source that is used to initiate emergency calls.
Searching for an address
You can search for an address. If the address is found, it is displayed on the map, in the list, or on the calendar. Then, for example, you can search for data items that are within a specified distance from the address.
Searching for nearby data items
You can search for data items that are within a specified range from either a data item, or from an address that is marked by a pin. You can search for nearby items either on the map, in the list, or on the calendar.
Viewing data that has no location
Your administrator can configure data sources that do not require location information. For data sources that do not provide location information, you can view data items only on the list or the calendar.
