Viewing alerts

Click the Alerts button to view a dynamic list of your alerts and their details. Use the Video player to view video alerts that have been received from IBM® Intelligent Video Analytics.

If there are alerts for you, the number of alerts is displayed in an icon on the Alerts button.

The shape and color of the icon indicates the highest severity of alerts that are in the list:
  • An orange square with rounded corners indicates that the list contains only normal alerts.
  • A yellow triangle indicates that the list contains alerts with a maximum severity of warning.
  • A red circle indicates that the list contains alerts with a maximum severity of critical.

Alerts is an interactive window that contains a list of all the current alerts that are relevant to you. You see only alerts that are sent to you or to the user groups that you are a member of.

Alerts are received when a predefined key performance indicator (KPI) value change occurs, where the new value is in a different range to the existing value. For example, the water level measurement of a reservoir is unacceptably low and the users with access to the KPI are notified.

Alerts also display errors from background processes.

Alerts list

The Alerts window provides a dynamic, interactive list of alerts. The list contains key information for each alert: a headline description, and the sent date and time. The list is sorted in an order that is based on the sent date and time, starting with the most recent alert. You can change the sort order in the list.

A column in the alert list also indicates the severity of each notification.

Initially, the Alerts window displays a list of all of your current alerts. To see more information, click a specific alert.

To remove an alert from the list, click Actions on the preview card, and then click Cancel. To close the preview card and return to the list, click the close icon at the top of the card.

Note: Remove an alert only after you are certain it is obsolete because the alert is removed for all recipients when you close it.

A summary bar at the end of the list indicates the total number of alerts that are displayed and the number of alerts that are selected. Scroll down through the list with the side-bar.

In the user profile notification settings, you can customize the number of days for which alerts are displayed. By default, each alert is displayed for a maximum period of three days.

Alerts can be displayed for a maximum of 200 days.

You can set the length of time that an alert is displayed for before the alert is removed from the list. On the top menu bar, click your user name and then click Edit Profile. Specify the number of days that you want alerts to be displayed for. The default time limit is three days.

Video alerts

For data items that have been received from video analytic alerts data sources, you can view video alerts through the preview card's Actions menu. Video alerts are displayed in the video player. Click the Video button on the taskbar to display the video player.
