Scenario: Node location aggregate in network availability safety stock

You can create safety stock rules for a specific node within a distribution group so that the inventory can be withheld from network availability. You can also apply the safety stock rule against a specific item. When you apply the node location aggregate for the network safety stock rule, the node level safety stock that belongs to the target network is provided.

Node location aggregate for a network safety stock rule

In this scenario, during an availability request, the safety stock amount is derived from the ship nodes in the distribution groups.

Example 1: There are two networks with distribution groups that are called DG1 and DG2 with the following supply across N1 and N2 ship nodes:
Table 1. DG1 network
Network Ship nodes Supply
DG1 N1 5
N2 6
Table 2. DG2 network
Network Ship nodes Supply
DG2 N1 5
N2 6

The total network availability is 11 qty for either DG since they both manage the same nodes.

Next, the following safety stock (SS) settings are applied:
Table 3. Safety stock settings
Network Safety stock setting
N1 1
N2 2
DG1 Uses node level aggregate
DG2 5
Note: DG2 uses standard network safety settings.
Results: Now, a network availability request comes in for the distribution groups that results in the following availability:
Table 4. Network availability request
Network Availability
DG1 (N1 - N1 - SS) + (N2 - N2 - SS) = (5 - 1) + (6 - 2) = 8
DG2 N1 + N2 - SS = (5 + 6 - 5) = 6
