Node and node types

A ship node, or node, represents a location in which inventory is stored, and has capacity to fulfill an order and the node types define common node configurations which can be used to group nodes. For example, a ship node can be a warehouse, store, or distribution center that is shipping the shipments or products.

Sellers can manage ship nodes from the Order Hub user interface to ensure that the system is aware of all possible fulfillment locations that can fulfill an order.
Note: Ship node data is managed in Sterling Intelligent Promising by using the Order Hub UI. For more information, see Configuring nodes.
By default, the following three node types are included:
  • DC
A distribution center (DC) is a high-performance node that is designed for processing a high volume of orders.
  • STORE
A store is a moderate performance node that can process orders but might not be able to support the same volume as a distribution center.
  • VENDOR
Identifies the node as a vendor. A vendor is a third-party location that processes orders.

To manage your fulfillment operations, you can create custom node types like dark stores or micro-fulfillment centers. You can create, view, edit, and delete custom node types.

For more information, see Managing node types.
