Manually closing issues and incidents
You can manually close issues and incidents to reduce the noise that is caused by issues and incidents. Manually closed issues and incidents give more context on problem resolution. When closing an issue manually, you can also mute the alert and disable the event configuration.
Manually closing an issue
To manually close an issue, complete the following steps:
- From the navigation menu in the Instana UI, click Events > Issues.
- Click an open issue.
- In the Description field on the Event dashboard, click Close this issue.
- In the Close issue dialog, complete the following steps:
- In the Comments field, provide a reason for closing the issue.
- If you don't want a close notification for this issue, set Suppress notifications to on.
- If you don't want any further events to be triggered for this configuration, set Disable event configuration for this issue to on.
- Click Close this issue.

Manually closing an incident
To manually close an incident, complete the following steps:
- From the navigation menu in the Instana UI, click Events > Incidents.
- Click an open incident.
- In the Incident overview field, click the arrow.
- From the Additional actions list, select Close this incident.
- In the "Close incident" dialog, complete the following steps:
- In the Comments field, provide a reason for closing the incident.
- If you don't want a close notification for this incident, set Suppress notifications to on.
- If you don't want any further events to be triggered for this configuration, set Disable event configuration for this incident to on.
- Click Close this incident.
