Installing the Instana agent on UNIX

What to do next

After you install the host agent, you can do the following actions to the agent:

  1. Check the status of the agent. For more information, see Checking the status of the host agent.

    After you install the Instana agent, the agent starts automatically at system boot. To disable this behavior, set the environment variable INSTANA_AGENT_AUTOSTART=false during installation.

  2. Configure Instana agent sensors to monitor specific technologies. For the list of supported sensors, see Agent sensors.

  3. Manage the host agent. For more information, see Administering the host agent.

  4. Upgrade the Instana agent when new versions are available. For more information, see Updating the agent.

  5. Uninstall the host agent if it's not needed. For more information, see Uninstalling the host agent.
