New features on the home page
On the Instana UI home page, the following features are added:
-
To provide a quick overview of incidents, Synthetic, and your custom dashboards, the Incidents, Synthetic monitoring, and My custom dashboards dashboards are added.
-
To streamline your onboarding experience, a new onboarding task list is added. In the onboarding list, you can see a guided process with actionable tasks such as installing agents, inviting teammates, setting up tracing, creating application perspectives and Smart Alerts. By using this feature, you can get started quickly, enhance team collaboration, and explore Instana.
Improvements
The following improvements are provided.
Approximate data indicator in Analytics
In Analytics, a tilde (~
) is now added to the count in the sidebar filter to indicate that the displayed data count is an approximate value.
Dropwizard sensor
The Dropwizard sensor now displays a warning on the dashboard when it reaches the metric limit. For more information, see Monitoring Dropwizard.
IBM MQ client library
IBM MQ, IBM App Connect Enterprise, and IBM MQ Managed File Transfer (MFT) sensors are improved to use IBM MQ client library 9.4, which is the latest version. You don't need to do anything.
Integrating details from DBA_TEMP_FILES into the Tablespace table
The details from the DBA_TEMP_FILES
table are integrated to the existing Tablespace table in the Instana UI. But, you must grant the read
access to the DBA_TEMP_FILES
table for the user
that is specified in the agent configuration file (<instana-agent-dir>/etc/instana/configuration.yaml
). For more information about how to grant the access, see Monitoring Oracle database,
Monitoring Oracle Multitenant database, and Monitoring Oracle RAC.
Log Integrations is moved to the Integrations section
In Team Settings, Log Integrations is moved from the Log Management section to a new section called Integrations. Now, Log Integrations is in the Integrations > Logging section.
Layout of the home page
The layout of the home page is redesigned to comply with the Carbon guide. The new design enhances user accessibility and provides a more aesthetic experience.
Spring Batch endpoints
The Spring Batch endpoints are now made more stable by removing volatile parts of batch job names such as object IDs, lambda IDs, or field values. The new change in the Spring Batch endpoints can affect existing Spring Batch endpoint names.
Synthetic monitoring
The mssql and telnet-client third-party modules are added to the JavaScript playback engine in Synthetic PoP 1.2.4 or later. You can import these modules by using the API script. For more information, see Importing optional module.
Thresholds for Infrastructure Smart Alerts (public preview)
Threshold values for the warning and critical severities can be set on the Smart Alert configuration for Infrastructure. For more information, see Smart Alerts for Infrastructure monitoring.
Uptime card in the SAP ABAP instance
In the Summary tab of the ABAP instance, a card is added to display the system's uptime.
Viewing the ZHMC entities from Infrastructure
To view ZHMC entities in the graph, from the navigation menu in the Instana UI, select Infrastructure. To filter the ZHMC entities, in Infrastructure, click Map and then enter a query in the
search field. You can use queries such as entity.type:zhmc
, entity.type:zhmc.console
, or entity.type:zhmc.cpc
.
Fixes
The following fixes are provided.
SAP ABAP sensor
A fix is added to generate an event when the IDoc transaction has an error and the job is in the Aborted
status.
Synthetic monitoring
If a Selenium IDE script (.side
) included the following characters or commands, the script failed in Synthetic PoP. This issue is fixed in Synthetic PoP 1.2.4 or later.
- Single quotation marks in the
editContent
command - The
assertText
orverifyText
command with leading or trailing white spaces
Typographical error in Oracle tag names
Due to a typographical error in the Oracle tag names, oracle.sevice.name
is renamed to oracle.service.name
and oracle.sevice.names
is renamed to oracle.service.names
. However, you can still
use the old tag names for compatibility with the earlier versions.
Breaking changes
