Installing Self-Hosted Custom Edition (Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform)
You can create a new self-hosted Instana backend in a Red Hat OpenShift container platform or Kubernetes cluster by installing the Instana Enterprise operator and then configuring the Instana backend. Then, you can upgrade your operator-based Instana backend to a newer release based on your needs.
To install a self-hosted Instana backend on a Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift cluster, complete the following steps:
Prerequisites
-
Understand the Instana Enterprise operator. For more information, see Instana Enterprise operator.
-
Review the system requirements for Self-Hosted Custom Edition (Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform) and outbound network access requirements for self-hosted Instana deployments, and ensure that the requirements are met before you install the Instana backend.
-
Set up and configure required data stores. For more information, see Setting up required data stores.
Installation procedure
-
Install the kubectl plug-in. For more information, see Installing the kubectl plug-in.
