SSL certificate tests

A new test type, SSLCertificate, is added to create SSL certificate tests to test webserver certificates. For more information, see Monitoring endpoints with Synthetic tests.

Synthetic PoP 1.2.0 and later supports a new ISM (Internet Service Monitoring) playback engine. For more information, see Synthetic PoP architecture. If you do not use the Instana container image repo to pull images, you need to pull ISM playback engine image in advance from the containers.instana.io/synthetic/ism image URL.

Agent SSL errors

During the rollout of a new release, the Instana host agent might have SSL issues when they connect to the Instana backend. Even though the host agent manages to connect to the Instana backend, these errors might incur some connection delay and this issue is a known issue.

IBM PowerHMC sensor: vNIC adapter details

You can view the IBM PowerHMC vNIC adapter details of each managed system in Platforms > IBM PowerHMC > Systems > Network in the Instana UI. For more information about vNIC adapter details, see vNIC details.

Monitoring Cassandra

Instana now supports Cassandra 4.1.4 and 4.1.5.

RBAC support for Automation framework

You can select Permission scope and Access type for Automation product area when you create a new user group. For more information, see Manage user access.

SAP ABAP sensor

• Enhanced the following statistics tables to display the username and client information: User, Work Process, and Database.
• Implemented new metrics in the User Statistics for Background, Update, Spool, and Enqueue steps.
• Introduced three additional metrics to monitor work processes effectively: Stopped, Shutdown, and Reserved.
• Enabled the filtering of work processes based on the status categories, such as Dialog Process, Update, Background, Enqueue Process, BTC (Batch job), Spool, and Update2.
• Optimized the code by reducing calls to the SWNC_GET_WORKLOAD_SNAPSHOT remote function module to improve the performance of fetching metrics.
• Adjusted the frequency of TH_SERVER_LIST remote function module to run at 90-second intervals instead of every 10 seconds.
• Added the following metrics to monitor the CPU utilization per user: Response Time, Queue Time, and RollWait Time.

Synthetic monitoring

• Filtering on GET /api/synthetics/settings/locations and GET /api/synthetics/settings/tests is expanded. For more information, see OpenAPI.

• On Synthetic PoP 1.2.0 and later in non-Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform environments, fixed user ID and non-root group are used in the PoP containers to improve container security. In the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform environment, arbitrary user ID and root group are used. For more information, see Support arbitrary user IDs in OCP.

Analyze Infrastructure: Entities without a label

Entities that do not have a label are not displayed on the Analyze Infrastructure dashboard. Entities that do not have enough information to create a label are labeled Unknown.

Business monitoring

The business processes table on the Events page is now fixed to show only the relevant business processes.

Fixed order in the API query window

The default order in the API query window, which was incorrect and did not support grouped results, is now fixed. Additionally, the order now updates correctly when modified in the table.

IBM MQ sensor

• Previously, multiple unexpected connections from the IBM MQ sensor to Queue Manager were generated if Queue Manager was recovered when Instana was running. This issue is now fixed, and no more connections are generated.
• Previously, the IBM MQ sensor was connected to Queue Manager even after the sensor was deactivated for some specific customer environment. This issue is now fixed, and the IBM MQ sensor does not connect to Queue Manager after the IBM MQ sensor is deactivated.

Synthetic monitoring

The number of Synthetic tests that are displayed in the Access Configuration page for Groups included the tests that were deleted. This issue is fixed. The number of deleted tests is excluded from the count.
