Monitoring GlassFish
You can monitor GlassFish by using the Instana GlassFish sensor. After you install the Instana host agent, the GlassFish sensor is automatically installed and enabled. You can view metrics that are related to GlassFish in the Instana UI.

Viewing metrics
To view the metrics, complete the following steps:
- In the sidebar of the Instana UI, select Infrastructure.
- Click a specific monitored host to view the host dashboard with all the collected metrics and monitored processes.
Configuration data
The following are the configuration data that is collected from the GlassFish server:
- Version
- Started at
- Domain
- Applications
- JDBC pool
- Connection pool
Performance metrics
The following performance metrics are collected from the GlassFish server:
- Connections
- Keep Alive
- File Cache
- JDBC Connections
- Web Requests
Health Signatures
Each sensor has a knowledge base of health signatures that are continuously analyzed against incoming metrics to create issues or incidents based on user impact.
The built-in events trigger issues or incidents based on health signatures that failed on entities. For more information about built-events for the GlassFish sensor, see Built-in events reference. The custom events trigger issues or incidents based on the thresholds of an individual metric of an entity.
