eBPF sensor releases

The eBPF sensor monitors eBPF services and functions in Instana, including abnormal crash detection and OpenTelemetry eBPF profiling. For more information, see OpenTelemetry eBPF profiler support in Instana.

The eBPF sensor 1.1.9 is released on 18 March 2025.

Improvements

This release adds commit ID to the file name while downloading the OpenTelemetry eBPF profiler. This commit ID serves as a version indicator. With this update, you can track versions of the open source OpenTelemetry eBPF profiler, which does not follow semantic versioning.

The eBPF sensor 1.1.8 is released on 12 March 2025.

Features

This release adds support for OpenTelemetry eBPF profiling in Instana. The sensor now performs the following functions:

  • Downloads, installs, and runs the OpenTelemetry eBPF profiler.
  • Profiles Java, PHP, NodeJS, Ruby, and Python processes by using the OpenTelemetry eBPF profiler.
