Adding threshold to widgets in custom dashboard

You can add a threshold to widgets in a custom dashboard to highlight values that exceed or fall below certain levels. This feature is available for Big Number and Table widgets.

Adding a threshold to Big Number widget

To add a threshold, complete the following steps:

  1. Create or edit a widget (only Big Number and Table widgets can have a threshold).
  2. Under Datasets, expand the dataset on which you want to enable the threshold.
  3. Set the unit and formatter, if not already set.
  4. Click the toggle in the Threshold section to enable the threshold.
  5. Under Datasets, click the toggle in the Threshold section to enable the threshold.
  6. Enter the threshold condition and either or both the thresholds for critical and warning colors.

Edit a threshold for a dataset

Big Number widget with a threshold

This is an example big number widget where warning threshold is set to >200MiB and critical threshold is set to >500MiB.

Threshold on big number widget

The metric value and its unit are rendered in yellow because the value exceeds 200 MiB.

Table widget with a threshold

This is an example table widget where warning threshold is set to >0.5Gib and critical threshold is set to >1Gib.

Threshold on table widget

When a metric goes over the 1 Gib limit, the whole series are rendered in red. When a metric goes over 0.5 Gib but not over 1 Gib, the whole series are rendered in yellow. Metrics that do not go over 0.5 Gib do not change color.

In the preceding example, even though the mean value over the time frame might not exceed 1 Gib, it is possible that at some point in time, the metric exceeded 1 Gib. This is why the third line in the preceding example is colored in red.
