IMS Catalog maintenance procedures
Find the maintenance procedures that you must complete when IBM® provides a definition change of the IMS catalog databases.
When IBM provides definition changes of the IMS catalog database (DFSCD000), the procedures to activate the changes differ and depend on the type of change. The procedure that you must use varies based on whether IMS Managed ACBs is implemented or whether you use online IMS systems.
Structural changes (for example, extending the length of a segment) can affect active applications and require the catalog resources to be stopped or to be in quiescence. Non-structural changes (for example, adding an external-only field) can be implemented when there is active processing.
Before you start the implementation of the maintenance procedures, you must review the prerequisite considerations that you must take into account. See Prerequisite considerations.
- To implement catalog non-structural changes, see IMS Catalog maintenance procedures for implementing non-structural changes.
