Creating IMS table spaces

A table space stores one or more IMS segment types, which are referred to as tables in DDL statements for IMS. A table space name is an identifier of up to eight characters. You can associate it to a specific database with the IN keyword. Tables you want stored in a table space can be associated with the table space also with the IN keyword on either the CREATE TABLE or ALTER TABLE statement.

Design the type of database you want to create before you implement one or more table spaces.
