XRF in an IMSplex

XRF can be used in an IMSplex in the same way that it is used on a local system. The XRF alternate must be defined in the IMSplex and have access to the Common Service Layer (CSL).

A Structured Call Interface (SCI) must reside on the z/OS® image where the XRF alternate resides.

An XRF system registers for IMS commands with the Operations Manager (OM) using its IMSID. When commands are routed to an XRF active or alternate system, the IMSID should be used on the ROUTE().

For owned resources, an XRF system defines its resources to the Resource Manager (RM) using the RSENAME as the resource owner. When the XRF alternate system takes over, it takes over ownership of the resources.

You cannot use XRF to recover an entire IMSplex, but you can use XRF to recover an individual IMS in an IMSplex.

HALDB OLR cannot be initiated on an XRF alternate system. For more information about HALDB OLR support, see IMS Version 15 Database Administration.
