Allocating OSAM data sets

For databases other than HALDB databases, you should use JCL to allocate OSAM data sets at the time the data set is loaded. This mode of allocation can be for single or multiple volumes by using the SPACE parameter.

OSAM also supports large format sequential data sets, which can be used as an alternative to multivolume data sets.
