IMS Explorer for Web overview
IMS Enterprise Suite Explorer for Development version 3.4 provides IMS Explorer for Web, a server-based solution that runs in a browser and simplifies common IMS development workflows. Designed for system programmers, database administrators, and application developers, IMS Explorer for Web provides a modern server-based alternative to versions of IMS Explorer built for Eclipse.
IMS Explorer for Web is available at no additional cost to IMS customers running version 15 or later. Your system must have IMS catalog enabled to experience the full capabilities of IMS Explorer for Web.
Runs in a browser
With IMS Explorer for Web, your team can use popular browsers such as Google Chrome or Apple Safari to collaborate on key development activities. Single-server installation simplifies access and ends the need to manage various versions of Eclipse-based tools. And because IMS Explorer for Web runs on IBM WebSphere Application Server for z/OS Liberty, a range of security features are available for your web-based operations.
Once installed, your team can access IMS Explorer for Web from a single shareable link.
Simplifies development workflows
By combining multiple activities into one environment, IMS Explorer for Web promotes modern development practices and simplifies complex IMS database development tasks. IMS Explorer for Web supports the following actions.
- Create and edit projects, driver definitions, and database connections.
- Select and import PSBs (program specification blocks) and DBDs (database descriptions) from your local file system or a shared IMS catalog.
- Add or edit fields in your DBD (database description) file.
- Access IMS data with SQL queries.
- Import and manage multiple data structures.
- Customize IMS data structures using maps and cases.
