Use the getting started information to get familiar with common IMS Explorer tasks such as creating project and importing resources.

Switching to the IMS Explorer perspective
The IMS Explorer perspective is the development environment for IMS Explorer projects. It allows you to import, manipulate, and generate IMS resource definitions. As you develop IMS applications, you can switch to the perspective where IMS database and program definitions are supported.
Switching to the IMS Explorer transaction test perspective
IMS Explorer Transaction Test perspective is the development environment for IMS Explorer Transaction Unit Test projects. They allow you to create and run unit test cases for IMS application debugging. As you unit test IMS applications, you can switch to the perspective where unit test cases are supported.
IMS Explorer projects
An IMS Explorer project is a container for storing the resources that you use to plan, analyze, and make changes to your IMS database and to develop IMS applications. Projects are displayed in the Project Explorer view.
Creating an IMS Explorer project
You can create a project explicitly by opening the New IMS Explorer Project wizard when you are in the IMS Explorer perspective.
Creating an IMS Explorer Transaction Test project
You can create a project explicitly by opening the New IMS Explorer Project wizard when you are in the IMS Explorer Transaction Test perspective.
Importing IMS resources
You can import IMS resources such as program specification block (PSB) and database description (DBD) files into your IMS Explorer project from your local file system, from z/OS®, or from the IMS catalog.
Importing DLIModel utility plug-in projects
You can import into the IMS Explorer any projects that were created with the IMS Enterprise Suite Explorer for Development DLIModel utility plug-in or the IMS DLIModel utility plug-in. IMS Explorer will generate a new Java™ metadata class for each of the projects that you import.
