Additions and extensions

Additions and extensions represent the most common type of customization that you can do with InfoSphere® MDM.

Additions are customizations in which you generate entirely new entities within InfoSphere MDM. For example you decide you need a new entity called Widgets. Extensions are the inclusion of additional columns or fields to existing InfoSphere MDM entities. You might choose to add an extra field such as a GoogleStreetView_location to the Address table in InfoSphere MDM.

Additions and extensions are collections of the types of customizations as previously described. For example an addition will entail a new component or controller to enable you to add or update the new entity. It will definitely entail a new business object and query and persistence factory. The MDM Workbench is designed specifically to help you design and generate your Additions and Extensions.
