Eclipse workspace preparation

To develop InfoSphere® MDM metadata specs, you must first prepare a workspace in IBM® Rational® Application Developer.

You must prepare a workspace for your metadata spec project to ensure that the appropriate views, perspectives and editors are selected.

When you enable the XML Developer capability, the XML schema editor is used by default when updating metadata specs. The XML schema editor is the recommended tool for modifying the metadata specs.

If you are familiar with XML schema development, you can modify specs using the Source view. Alternatively, you can use the Design view for assisted document construction.

Enabling automatic building allows the IBM Rational Application Developer environment to validate metadata spec projects as they are developed and flag any associated problems automatically. If this option is disabled, the projects must be built manually to trigger validation.

After you have prepared the workspace, you must create a project for your InfoSphere MDM metadata specs.
