Standardized data

Part of the derivation process, standardization is the process by which similar data received in various formats is transformed to a common format that enhances the comparison process. For example, street names commonly contain directions, like North or West. The standardization routines formats these values to “N” or “W” in order to speed up the comparison process. The standardized data does not overwrite the core member data in the database; therefore, when you view a record it shows the original format (for example, North rather than “N”).
