Introducing Data Stewardship
As a sample application, IBM® InfoSphere® Master Data Management provides a web based user interface called Data Stewardship. You can use the Data Stewardship UI to maintain data quality within the core application.
As a sample application, you must separately download the Data Stewardship assets from the InfoSphere MDM Samples and Assets site. For more information about installing samples, see Installing samples from the Samples and Assets site.
Data Stewardship contains
various functions for anyone in a data steward role to maintain and
manage data:
- Party maintenance: Add, search for, view, and edit a party. A party can be a person or an organization.
- Suspected duplicate parties: Search for possible duplicate parties
based on user-defined parameters and process the duplicates:
- View the list of parties and all suspected duplicates for those parties. The list also indicates whether the system matching rules detected one or more best matches, which are match scores that are above a defined threshold.
- Compare the suspected duplicates to determine if they are the same party.
- Mark and unmark suspected duplicates by manually marking two parties as suspected duplicates, or removing the suspected duplicate marking from two parties.
- Collapse or merge two or more parties into one new party. The previous parties are inactivated and the new party, incorporating data from the old parties, is created from the other two.
- Manage tasks as a result of duplicate parties. You can search for, assign, unassign, reassign, tasks.
- Hierarchical data: Create and maintain party hierarchy information to manage and show the hierarchical structure between related parties and roles.
- Group parties: Search for and work with party groupings to manage how parties are viewed collectively.
