When you face problems to display objects quickly in the
user interface on client side, you need to clarify whether most of
the time is spent on the client or InfoSphere® MDM Collaboration Server server
side. When you face problems to display objects quickly in the User
interface on client side, you need to clarify whether most of the
time is spend on client or rather MDMCE server side.
Symptoms
Symptoms of browser issues include:
- wrong display of user interface, especially menu pull-down anomalies
- slow display of the user interface while seeing at the same time
any of the following:
- Internet Explorer showing high CPU usage while rendering a page,
or
- anti virus software showing high CPU usage
Diagnosing the problem
If you see that data packets are received quickly by the
browser and CPU peaks for most of the remaining time (especially for
iexplorer.exe),
then it is a good indication that you face a performance problem on
the client side. See
Browser issues for more information. If this is
not the case, check the
InfoSphere MDM Collaboration Server server
side for performance bottlenecks.
Resolving the problem
You optimally should follow these guidelines:
- use an http monitoring tool to see when data is received by the
browser
- monitor Total CPU usage and especially CPU usage of the browser
process (Open Windows Task Manager, click the Processes tab
and watch for the iexplorer.exe process) while
reproducing the issue.
