Export pane

Use this pane to export the content in the business glossary into an XML, CSV, or XMI (glossary archive) file.

You can export glossary content to a file in order to reimport it later. The export method that you choose depends on your reason for wanting to export and import, and the capabilities of the import method.

With the XML import method, you can import any kind of glossary content. This includes categories, terms, and all their properties and relationships.

The CSV import method is more limited. You can import categories, terms, links to stewards, and the values of custom attributes. However, you cannot import custom attribute definitions or relationships, and not all values of properties can be changed.

Select the type of file to export to:
XML
Exports to an XML (Extensible Markup Language) file.
Glossary Archive
Exports glossary content to an archive file that is in XMI (XML Metadata Interchange) format so that you can move it to a different IBM® InfoSphere™ Information Server metadata repository.
CSV
Exports to a CSV (comma-separated value) file.

The following options apply to XML and Glossary Archive exports only.

Include links to:
Assigned assets
Includes links from terms to their assigned assets such as jobs, reports, and database tables.
Stewards
Includes links from categories and terms to their stewards.

The following actions apply to exports for all types of files.

Select the top level categories that you want to export:
Select the check boxes that correspond to the categories that you want to export. To export all of the selected categories that are displayed on the scrollable pane, select the top check box next to the word "Name" in the leftmost column. To export a subset of categories, select, from the list, only the categories that you want to export.

The selected categories are displayed in the Selected Categories list to the right.

Remove
Select one or more categories from the Selected Categories list, then click Remove. The removed categories will not be included in the export process.
Note: To select a category to remove either unselect the check box corresponding to it or select the name of the category directly in the Selected Categories list, and then click Remove.
Export
Starts the export process. You are prompted for a file name and location for the exported file.
