You create mappings by selecting source columns and target
columns from tables. You can drag tables or columns into the mapping
editor and then associate more data, such as terms or transformation
operators to the columns.
Before you begin
- You must have access to data sources that contain the tables that
you want to map.
- Metadata must be in the metadata repository. Ensure that the metadata,
associated with the data sources, is in place.
Procedure
To
map table columns:
- From the Mapping Editor list on
the left, click Column Mappings.
- Click the Database Metadata tab.
In the Column list, you see a list of data
sources, databases, schemas, and tables.
Tip: If you do not
see the Database Metadata tab, click .
- Select either tables or table columns and drag into a source
or target cell in the mapping specification. If you drag
a table, all the columns within the table are placed in the mapping
specification.

Description |
Adding to an existing mapping |
Drag one or more columns or tables to a source or target cell
of an existing mapping. The columns or tables are added to the cell
in the mapping row. |
Adding a new mapping |
Drag a column or a table into the last row or anywhere below
the last row. A mapping is created for each dragged column and each
cell is populated with a column. For example, you can drag in an entire
table to the target column of an empty mapping specification. The
mapping specification is populated with mappings that contain a table
column in each target cell. You can then start populating the source
cells. |
