Specifying the SQL condition for extraction objects

About this task

If you added tables to the extraction object, you can open to the Build Extraction Object dialog box to specify the SQL condition. To specify the SQL condition:

Procedure

  1. Click SQL Condition, or choose Specify SQL Condition from the Extraction Object Editor shortcut menu.
  2. Select a column from the Table list. You can search for a string in the field name or for a description by using the Find What field, the Direction list, and Find. Using Find What is especially helpful for searching large tables.
  3. Specify a single value for a field, or use the list to specify job parameters. Click Add Single Value to add the selection criteria to the ABAP SQL Condition box.
  4. Optional: Add a SELECT-OPTIONS statement to an ABAP program that uses either the FTP or RFC data transfer method and is enabled for background processing. To add a SELECT-OPTIONS SQL statement, click the IN operator in the Operator field. The SELECT-OPTIONS statement in an ABAP program is used to dynamically set the argument for Open SQL IN operator. ABAP program argument declared with SELECT-OPTIONS can be received only in the background processing mode via the ABAP program Variant. The IBM® InfoSphere™ DataStage® job sends list of values, or range of values, to ABAP program Open SQL IN operator as a job parameter via Variant.
  5. Specify a range of values for a field, or use the drop-down list to specify job parameters. Click Add Range to add the selection criteria to the ABAP SQL Condition box.
  6. Click OK to add the condition to the Build Extraction Object dialog box. You can see the condition statement at the end of the table description in the tree.
  7. If you create a join condition, specify the SQL condition for the child table. The parent table is displayed in the Join Table list. Double-click the parent table to list its fields in the Join Field list.
  8. Select the column name from the Table list. Select the column on which you are doing the join from the Join Field list. Click Add Relationship to add the condition to the ABAP SQL Condition box.

You can specify additional columns for the join condition. Select the columns in the same manner, and click either AND or OR to specify the Boolean logical operator.

  9. Click OK to add the join condition to the Build Extraction Object dialog box. The condition is added to the table description in the tree.
Note: If you make an error when specifying the condition, you can remove the condition from the ABAP SQL Condition box by clicking Clear Condition. This option removes the entire selection criteria definition from the box. You can also manually edit the SQL condition. You can then review your SQL statement by clicking View SQL.
  10. Select any entry, and click Property on the Build Extraction Object dialog box to look at its properties and values in the Properties window.
