The Discover More feature allows you to discover columns
within the metadata repository for mapping specifications.
Before you begin
You must have credentials and access to business glossary
in order to find semantic similarities by using the discover function.
About
this task
Your
search is for columns that are semantically or lexically similar to
the column you are trying to match. The similarity is measured by
a score between 1 and 100, where 1 is no match and 100 is a complete
match.
Procedure
To
discover column matches:
- In the Mapping Editor, select a
column cell from within the mapping specification table. If you want
to discover the source column, then select the source column cell.
If you want to discover the target column, select the target column
cell.
- Click the Discover tab below the
table in the Mapping Editor.
Tip: If you do not see a selection of tabs below the table,
click the arrow that is located between the table and buttons at the
bottom of the
Mapping Editor.

- Click Discover More. The Discover
more dialog opens.
- Expand the folders in the Discover more dialog and select
the database or table that you want to search.
- Optional: Click the Advanced Options tab
to view the default characteristics or to specify the characteristics
that you want to match. See Discover options for
more information on the options.
- Select the Source Column or Target
Column radio button as applicable. Click OK.
The message Results are available is displayed in the
table cell of the selected mapping specification.
- Click the cell that contains the message to see the results
in the Discover tab. The resulting
list of columns are sorted by their score.
Tip: To see
details about the match characteristics for a column, select the candidate
from the list of recommended columns and click Match Details.
- Select the column that you want and click Add
to Sources or Add to Targets, as
applicable.
- Click Save.
