New in this release
The IBM® InfoSphere® Information Server Pack for SAP BW has the following new capabilities.
Version 4.4.0.1
- Innovations:
- Support for SAP BW/4 HANA on-prem systems: With BW extract stage data can be fetched from an Open Hub Destination (OHD) in a SAP BW/4 HANA on premise system
- Quality improvements:
- Fixes for many internally found defects in previous releases
- APAR fixes
- Supported platform:
- IBM Cloud Pak for Data 3.5
- Documentation: Updated Knowledge Center and Tech Notes
Version 4.4.0.0
- Security:
- SNC support for all BW stages is available, encrypted data transfer is enabled and also certificates instead of userid and password can be used for authentication in design and runtime phases
- A registered SAP namespace "/IBMIIS" is available for SAP objects which are provided by IBM with this Pack. Objects cannot be modified by customers anymore. This prevents accidentally overwriting objects.
- The Pack uses stronger encryption logic (salted hashing) to store the SAP connection password
- Usability:
- Simplified connection management: The edit function for connection management is available in Datastage Administrator for SAP BW only. This function was removed from the individual stages. In the stage editors the connections can only be selected.
- Maintainability:
- Improved error handling, error logging and messaging in design and runtime. Improved and more
detailed job status information. For instance:
- Additional information is written to log files, for example, the transfer method
- The stage trace level (env var DSSAP_STAGE_RUNTIME_TRACE) can be set more granularly (FINER, FINEST)
- For the 7.x Load stage the status information on SAP side is now also available in the job status
- Improved transfer structure validation during run time for legacy load stage
- BW RFC Server intercepts the full error codes from DS job (meaning DS job errors will be available in BW for both Load and Extract, in the Process Chain and InfoPackage logs)
- Improved error handling, error logging and messaging in design and runtime. Improved and more
detailed job status information. For instance:
- Documentation: Updated Knowledge Center and Tech Notes
Version 4.3.3.1
- Performance: Extract jobs can make use of more than one node on parallel canvas. This improves the runtime performance and scalability
-
Error handling and detection:
- Additional detailed information was made available in the job log and listener log, including connection information and SAP Server component version
- Listener program ID conflicts are detected at runtime
- Usability:
- Resolved inconsistencies in UI
- Improved handling of temporary files
- Security: Enforced admin rights to modify SAP connection properties in Datastage Admin and Designer UI
- Documentation: Updated Knowledge Center and Tech Notes
Version 4.3.3
- New Load stage providing SAP 7.x datasource support - original request described in technote 1648180
