GDPSWORKLOADNAME
The GDPSWORKLOADNAME configuration parameter allows GDPS® automation to treat all subscriptions defined as a single workload for routing and site switch operations.
Description
By default, GDPS automation treats each subscription as an independent workload in an IMS or VSAM heterogeneous replication environment. This is because the subscription name is also reported as the workload name in EIF and NMI messages. Additionally, the number of subscriptions that are associated with the workload is reported as 1.
The GDPSWORKLOADNAME parameter allows you to specify the workload name that is reported in the EIF and NMI messages used by GDPS automation. The number of subscriptions that are associated with the workload is reported as the number of subscriptions that are defined in the server’s CECSUB file.
When this parameter is specified, the same name must be supplied in the source server and all target servers for GDPS automation to function properly.
GDPS automation can also treat subscriptions that reference DB2®, IMS, and/or VSAM as a single workload. In a mixed IMS and VSAM environment, using the same GDPSWORKLOADNAME causes GDPS automation to treat all IMS and VSAM subscriptions as a single workload.
The same can be done for DB2 by using the multiple consistency group (MCG) feature. In this scenario the GDPSWORKLOADNAME parameter needs to match the groupname
value that is
specified on the CREATE MCG command.
