Mapping columns in temporal tables

After mapping your tables using the Map Tables wizard, you can use the Column Mappings tab in the Table Mappings view to customize what items you want to map to target columns in a subscription.

If you have mapped your tables using any mapping type, then most or all of your target columns are already mapped to source columns that have identical names and attributes. However, using the Columns Mappings tab, you can customize the kind of information you want to map to a target column and populate it with.

Manually map any remaining target columns remaining unmapped by the Map Table wizard, so that they are populated with data during replication activities. For example, certain target columns may have remained unmapped by the Map Tables wizard if the column names between the source and target tables did not match, or if the data types between columns are not compatible.

Note: You cannot manually map or remap the temporal columns (such as SYS_START, SYS_END, and TS_ID). These columns are mapped automatically, to maintain the integrity of the historical data. Temporal columns are indicated by a clock Image of the columns icon when the column is contained in a temporal table. on the column icon.
