Viewing replication activities for a subscription
The Activity area of the Subscriptions view of the Monitoring perspective displays a graphical summary of either mirroring or refresh activity. You can drill down in this view to see a more detailed explanation of activity by double-clicking on the area title.
About this task
If your subscription is refreshing, a pie chart depicting the progress of the refresh will be displayed, along with the following information:
- Tables completed
- Displays a percentage value for the number of tables in the subscription that have finished refreshing.
- Refresh started
- Displays the date and time that the refresh began.
- Refresh completed
- Displays the date and time that the refresh ended.
- Table name
- Specifies the name of the target table currently being refreshed. This information will only be displayed while the refresh is in progress.
- Rows read
- Specifies the number of rows in the source table that have been read. This information will only be displayed while the refresh is in progress.
Double-clicking Activity - Refresh will drill down into a more detailed view of the replication activity.
The pie chart is displayed again, along with a list of the tables to be refreshed. For each table, the following information is displayed:
- Source Table
- Specifies the source table.
- Target Table
- Specifies the target table being refreshed.
- Duration
- Displays the amount of time the refresh has lasted.
- Records Read
- Displays the number of records that have been read from the source table.
- Records Applied
- Displays the number of database operations (inserts, updates or deletes) performed on the target table. This value is only supplied when the refresh for that table has completed. The Records Applied value may differ from the Records Reads value, if a differential refresh was performed or if filters or user exits were used.
- Status
- Displays the current status of the table. The status will be Refreshing... while the refresh of a table is still in progress or Completed when the refresh of the table has completed.
If your subscription is mirroring, a graph showing the recent progress of replication will be displayed, along with the total volume of bytes per second. Double-clicking Activity - Mirroring will drill down into a more detailed view of the replication activity. You can choose to view activities by either action or volume.
If you select Operations, a list of basic replication activities (inserts, updates, and deletes) for the source and target datastores is displayed on the left.
If you select Bytes, a list of processed volume activities (measured in bytes) for the source and target datastores is displayed on the left.
Each activity is summarized by Statistics Sample Rate-based rates for current activity, the highest level of activity and cumulative activity for the replication session.
For the Operations tab, the Cumulative column displays a count of the activities that occurred after statistics collection was enabled during the current replication session (the current session being when mirroring or refresh was started, until replication is ended). The next time that replication is started, the event count will return to zero and begin again. The frequency at which Management Console collects data for the cumulative count is based upon the value set in the Statistics Sample rate (seconds) box on the Preferences dialog. The count will begin after the first instance of the specified interval.
Up to five of these activities can be selected to plot the graph on the right. Each activity will be assigned a different color on the graph.
You can export the statistics information to a comma-delimited file by clicking Export Statistics, located above the graph.
