Mapping source data into Classic logical tables
Use the Classic Data Architect to create relational tables and views that map your source non-relational data.
Before you begin
- You must have the container environment running and you must have TCP/IP connectivity between the workstation where you installed Classic Data Architect and the container environment.
- The default SYSADM user is
cecuser
, which has privileges for all the objects and has the ability to grant or revoke necessary privileges.
About this task
Classic Data Architect connects to the VSAM Remote Source engine that is running in the container environment from a client workstation to simplify configuration tasks and create table and view mappings. The VSAM Remote Source engine is the data server for these tasks.
You create the relational tables and views in a project in Classic Data Architect. Then, you promote these objects to a data server.
Procedure
- Configure Classic Data Architect by creating prerequisite objects, creating connections to data servers, setting preferences, importing reference files, and granting privileges.
- Create tables and views, by mapping data for VSAM Remote Source.
- Optional: Modify your tables or views.
- Generate and run DDL to promote your tables and views to a data server.
- Optional: If you choose not to run the DDL from Classic Data Architect but from the metadata utility, export the DDL and make it available to the container environment.
